Online Teaching Work from Pakistan: Legit Platforms Compared

Online teaching lets you teach students around the world from home. But each platform has different rules, especially about who can join. Here is an honest comparison of popular options for teachers in Pakistan.

Preply

  • Teach many subjects, not only English.
  • You must be 18+, add a profile photo, a description, an intro video (30 seconds to 2 minutes) and verify your identity. Preply reviews applications in about five working days (Preply).
  • You set your own lesson rate; the first trial lesson’s full amount goes to Preply as commission.
  • Applications can be rejected if your subject has low demand (Preply Help).

italki

  • Mainly for languages. It has “Community Tutor” and “Professional Teacher” tiers; professional teachers need relevant credentials.
  • Tutors set their own prices and italki charges a commission.

Cambly

  • Cambly’s own support page says tutors must be native English speakers, at least 18, and apply from a laptop or desktop using Google Chrome (Cambly Support). Most Pakistani teachers will therefore not qualify for Cambly’s tutor programme.

Local options

Many Pakistani teachers also teach online through local academies, by tutoring overseas Pakistani families (for example Urdu, Quran or school subjects), or through their own social media pages. These can work well if you are careful about payments and safety.

Which should you choose?

If you teach a school subject or a language and can record a good intro video, Preply is usually the most open platform for Pakistani teachers. Always read each platform’s latest rules before investing time.
